Overnight 2009 – Chicago
Ten of us traveled to Chicago for the Overnight and we were joined by many friends from the Notre Dame community. Chicago was a wonderful host city and we enjoyed some sightseeing along the way – we segwayed through Grant Park, enjoyed the Navy Pier amusement park, the architectural river boat tour – and remembered Tommy in a special way with dinner at The Weber Grill!! The Overnight started with a walk up the Lake Shore Drive from Soldiers Field, through Grant Park, past Navy Pier, up to the Lincoln Park Zoo. The neighborhoods of Lincoln Park and Old Town were welcoming us at the wee hours of the morning. A stop for ice cream was a welcomed treat on a very hot night.
Heading south on the Magnificent Mile and back down Lake Shore Drive brought us back to Soldiers Field at 3:30 am for our own private ceremony to remember Tommy and celebrate our third Overnight to raise awareness and bring issues of mental illness and suicide out of the darkness.
